About Carl Bandy
I love what I do.
I've been carving original mahogany bas relief sculptures and turning them into cast paper sculptures for over 26 years. For over two decades I've crisscrossed the country doing juried fine art festivals and working with fine art galleries. In the years since I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease I have lost a little ground, but one thing I have not lost is my need to create. It's like breathing-you have to do it or you die, in this case my spirit would. My wife put the famous Winston Churchill quote: "never, never, never give up." in my studio to remind me of my tenacity. Ironically, I have written inspirational prose to accompany each piece that I have done. Now I find myself having to "walk the talk" One of my sculptures is entitled," There is a way….” I still believe There is a Way… I continue to carve wood and cast paper, and Hydrostone, albeit more slowly, and am teaching myself to paint with acrylics and dabble in Digital Art. Acrylics tend to make me more spontaneous and promise a new avenue of creative expression. None of this would be possible without the love and support of my wife and friends. Thank you all, each and every one of you! That's my story and I'm sticking to it…!
